Question about expenses

I am employed and receive a monthly salary. I can claim 45p a mile for using my own car to go to meetings etc. I then receive these expenses in my pay the following month. Are these expenses taxable as it looks like it's been counted as taxable income on my pay slip. Many thanks in advance!

no they are not taxable if :
    a) they only relate to business mileage, not ordinary commuting (you appear to understand that as you mention "attend meetings")
    b) the rate drops to 25 pence per mile if you have done more than 10,000 in that tax year. If they continue to pay you 45pm then you would be taxed on the excess 20ppm

you will need to post the numbers from your payslip if you want confirmation whether they or have not been taxed
