Confusion with Oyster Please Help

Hello Folks,
I am planning on moving to London for a year to study, and just wondered whether someone more familiar with this system could clear up some confusion regarding Oyster use on the tube.
Simply put I will be travelling from Old Street tube station to Warren Street tube station (all in zone one) and back as part of my planned daily journey. Initially I will have to purchase a PAYG oyster card, but I will attempt to purchase a 18+ Student Season Ticket once I have moved down there.
Okay so down to the nitty gritty,
I understand that I have to touch in and out so that the correct fare can be calculated, however I will be changing tubes at Kings Cross. My question is whether I have to touch out after my journey on the northern line to Kings Cross and touch in again for the second part of my journey? Or touch out when the whole single trip is complete after my journey on the victoria line to Warren Street.
Reason being that I wouldn't like to paying for two trips in zone 1, when on the national rail website has calculated that my trip to Warren Street from Old Street would only be £2.40.
Thanks for taking time out to read this, always appreciated.

Assuming you don't need to come out of the barriers at Kings Cross to change from Northern to Victoria (which I think is unlikely) then you would only need to touch In at Old Street and Out at Warren Street.0
