Who does the car belong to?
Options
I recently split from my wife. 2 years ago I took out a 15K loan for a new family car and pay off a few of her debts. The loan is in my name and I make the repayments. The car is registered in her name and she pays for all maintenance, costs etc. Is the car legally hers or mine?

Legally hers on paperwork and if you are talking about the loan to get the car and you are paying it off the loan is outstanding to you and the car is hers, You cannot foresee a split happening when purchasing these things and the only thing here is to try and work an amicable arrangement to suit both you her.0

Is the loan secured on the car?
When purchasing the car, did the funds come from your account? Or did you give them to your wife and the funds come from her account?"Facism arrives as your friend. It will restore your honour, make you feel proud, protect your house, give you a job, clean up the neighbourhood, remind you of how great you once were, clear out the venal and the corrupt, remove anything you feel is unlike you... Although the registered keeper and the legal owner can be the same entity, they are 2 separate things. Eg A bank can be the legal owner of a vehicle, whilst the registered keeper is the person using the car on a daily basis.
When you purchased the car, who's name was on the invoice (not the V5)?0 -

I think Gaz is alluding to the fact that the V5 is only the registered keeper and not proof of ownership.0 -
The one case I have seen go the legal route with a mate who split up with his missus was that she kept the car due to being the registered keeper, Money aside if it was paid for from either account and in his case he paid it but still lost the case.0

The loan came from my account not hers0

Surely the starting point for a divorce settlement is a simple down the middle split of all assets and debts?0

The car belongs to the wife as it will be consider hers as it always has been, You can't take a gift back.0
