Hi everyone, we've closed the thread - please remember not to ask for medical advice on MSE. If you're in pain please do get it checked out by a healthcare professional. We really don't want it to get worse while you're possibly waiting for help on here!

Thank you!

Dentist first, then doctor. From experience, doctor will ask if you've seen the dentist.

Maybe a build-up of wax in your ear, especially if you're struggling to open your jaw too wide. Dentist initially prescribed me with antibiotics but it was only after I saw my GP was the real cause confirmed.

Could also be a pinched nerve. I get this quite frequently as I have osteoporosis in my spine and my GP has said this can (and does) lead to my nerves wriggling out of where their meant to be and getting pressed on my vertebrae at the wrong angle. Whilst I'm not saying you have osteoporosis or that this is a nerve issue, if it is, it can be common and it can at times fix itself or with a bit of movement (eg yoga and Pilates help me when I get this) and in itself it isn't serious, it's just very irritating!
