Just wondered if any readers are keepers of Goats as some are of chickens?
I can't keep them for lack of space but have always wanted to - they seem great characters and I would love to hear if any readers do keep them.I hope to retire in Cyprus and may get the chance to then.Look forward to any replies.....

I love goats. My aunty kept them, one baby got stuck behind the door of the outside - bucket - toilet and expired. My aunty was the ultimate frugler and we ate the goat. Delicious!0

I haven't, but I talked to a woman once who did. She said contrary to what some people think, they won't "mow your grass and eat your weeds" for you. Apparently they are quite picky and prefer to nibble on the tips of green things.:D
Goat lady also said that if you are keeping a nanny goat for milk, you do NOT have to keep her having kids in order to keep milk supply up. While milk production does drop off a year or so after giving birth, she will continue to produce milk as long as you are milking her.
:AI want to move to theory. Everything works in theory.0 -
I kept 2 along time ago , they are fussy eaters and the biggest problem i had was them wandering off . I didnt want to keep the tethered as they had plenty of land to wander round, but they always went next door !0

I should be so lucky to have the space or habitat required, if I did I would have at least a pair each of Goats, Hens, Pigs and Ducks.Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0

We are lucky enough to have hens, ducks, sheep and pigs on our mini smallholding but no goats. Our fences aren't good enough. Our neighbour has two and they are escape artists. As others have said they are also surprisingly fussy, but ever so cute. I would love to have some, but make do with stroking our neigbours.0
