My partner's debt.
Options
Hi all.
My partner has debt which is between £10k and £15k which she amassed before she met me.
My question is that if we had a joint account could she be forced to pay off this debt from the joint account, even though it would be my account to?
I want to open this account to take advantage of my bank's offers as my accounts are maxed out.
Thx in advance.

I would stick to separate accounts or by association you will be affected by her debt. Your accounts are 'maxed out'?Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.

Maxed out as in the banks only pay the full interest up to a certain amount. I can keep saving but the interest goes back to the basic rate.0 -

Unfortunately, nothing has changed..0 -
Going by your last thread, the debt should be very close to being statute barred. You should try to find out the exact dates and status of the debts (e.g. CCJs?)
If I were you, I wouldn't open a joint account until you've found this out.Do you not know that a man is not dead while his name is still spoken?
