I'm coming up to Birmingham on Sunday to see Billy Connolly at the Symphony Hall. Has anyone any recommendations for a lovely restaurant please!

... definitely! It's not in the centre of the city but it's only about 3 or 4 miles out. It's called Casa Italia and is excellent. I've been there many times, and never been disappointed. Very reasonably priced too. It's on the Hagley Road, Bearwood and the phone number is 0121 429 5695. I would call in advance to book as they can get busy depending on the time. Ask for a table downstairs too, it's much cosier.

I could recommend Sabai Sabai in Moseley which is a couple/few miles out of the city. They serve Thai food and it is absolutely delicious, my fave restaurant in the whole of Brum. Enjoy whatever restaurant you go to

the two mentioned are nice but a bit far away, there are loads of places to eat in brindley place and surrounding canal area which is literally next to your gig but, but for a very special treat book a table at Simpsons (it's brums only michelin starred restuaurant d'oh!) which is a three minute drive or a fifteen minute walk away - they do a set 3 course dinner for £30
