Mortgages for people with no dependants

I seem to remember hearing some time ago, about a type of mortgage designed for people with no kids or other dependants where you leave your house to the building society in the event of your death, and effectively "rent" it from them in the meantime. I think it waas "in trust" or "mortgages in trust". The idea is that as you've got no-one to leave the property to when you die, you don't need to buy it outright.
Are these available in England, and if so, where can I find information on them?
