LGPS waiting for payment

I finished working for the council on 5/4/16 but have not yet received any pension payment. I have been told I am due 85k tax free lump sum and will get nearly 2 months pension on the last working day of this month.
I was assured that I would get the lump sum on 18/5, but on chasing this on that date was then told it would be Friday. It is Friday today and it still hasn't been paid into my bank account. I know interest rates are very low but this is a lot of money in my terms and it seems a very long time to wait for payment. Is there anything I can do to get my money paid?

You need to take a look at your diary. You said " it is Friday today" but you posted at 11:31pm on Thursday night.

No one here can make the government pay you, only they can. Check your bank account in the morning and if it's not there phone them.

Think you must have forgotten to put your clock forward or your forum time settings are wrongly set. It was posted at 12.31am on Friday morning.

OP - check with your bank later.

The Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) is not administered or paid by central government.

Sensible advice, but Nual will no doubt be only too aware that local government is currently experiencing savage cuts and LGPS administrators are under enormous pressure.

Ok this is what I'm seeing

LGPS waiting for payment 19th May 16 at 11:31 PM

    ======

I presume there is a time setting in here somewhere I need to change. I'll go check. EDIT. Found it.

I dont know what time payments made on a particular day appear in your bank account. But if the LOCAL government or whoever pays, did it on the 18th it woudl be the height of optimism to expect it to be there at 30 minutes past midnight. I'd have thought most banks woudl have a much later start to the day.

Re "government" paying, where did I say "central"? Surely in the context of >>L<<GPS its obvious I wasn't expecting George Osborne to be paying the OP?

..... Back on topic, OP you are desperate for this money. Wheres it going? Because unless you have plans for it already lined up its then going to languish in a current account paying probably the square root of nothing in interest. Whilst waiting, you can use that time to get somehing set up.

lgps and civil service schemes are administered and paid out by private companies, not the lg or cs directly

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple :D

From the above this appears not to be the case? Unless there has been a change?

Money has now appeared in my account - thanks for the replies. It was 12.30 am here in the uk when I posted, and payment is from the LA payroll section.

Been trying to figure out what to do with it for months, but am paralysed. I have done most of the current accounts/ reg savers already, maxed the cash ISA for now and given a bit to family. maybe put it into an NS&I income bond at 1% for now. Then read up more on p2p. Pension is enough but I am hoping to downsize but to a more expensive area (upsize?) over the next year or so and I dont know what I will need for this.

Santander123 would be the obvious Nual. If you are married, you can have 3 accounts, one each, one joint. 3%.

Cash ISAs are pretty much worthless these days.
