Underwriters dragging thier heels

Me and my husband are currently waiting for the underwriters to give the go ahead after valuation.
Every step of the way it's more questions. Now they have sent questions to the surveyors but didn't say what they were, does anyone know what sort of things they might be querying? I'm panicking now this is the only thing we are waiting for everything else is done, we've packed up and the people we are buying from are ready to go and all packed up.
Thanks in advance
Beccy

  • You've packed up the house but don't have a mortgage offer?

we should have had answer 2 weeks ago but each time a deadline it set it gets pushed back again.

We have gone with Loughborough building society they are only small. We haven't seen the report, I rang the surveyors and they weren't there so they are going to ring in the morning.

Suggest that you unpack the kettle and chill out. As you won't be moving that soon.

We packed because we were told everything was done they have agreed to lend us the money subject to survey, and paperwork is already to be signed.
Does anyone think we should have our own survey done? The mortgage company have used allied surveyors I thought they all used countrywide.
We also have to move somewhere cos we don't want to lose the sale of our house.
  • When do you have to move by?

Seem a bit premature to pack when you need to get an offer, exchange and complete?

Has your solicitor completed the searches and enquiries?

I can't see any benefit to this unless you specifically wanted a more detailed survey to be done.

Smaller lenders are slow. The person doing your case may have gone on holiday.

If you used a broker, make them aware of your concerns and have them chase the Lender.

If not chase the Lender yourself.

It's still can be declined by underwriters, we had this previously....I hope it won't happen to you, but unless you haven't got your mortgage offer, you can't be so sure..
