Just wondering if anyone has experience of claiming from FSCS for mortgage miss selling and if making a claim would you use a claim firm and pay 30% of the compensation or can you do it yourself are there any risks downsides etc?

Has the advisory firm been found in default, so you can no longer complain to the firm, then to FOS?I am a mortgage broker. We know that there are very few mortgage mis-sale complaints being made and those that are see the vast majority rejected. Most of them seem to be made by opportunistic claims companies, many of whom have charged up front fees. The upfront fee being their earner knowing that very few will actually stick.
Broadly speaking the claims companies acting in this area are the real dodgy ones.
Usually, they start the process by saying it is no win-no fee. However, after a month or so they come back to you saying that you have a case but they need their solicitors to do some work which will cost you. You have to pay for them to proceed. Then when the complaint is ultimately rejected (as the majority are), you end up out of pocket for the money you paid.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
