My partner has been notified by his pension provider that HMRC have amended his tax code. However, this is not correct, so he went on the HMRC website (personal tax account) and was able to amend his tax code. It would appear that they had the wrong pension amount. Does any one know if the revised code will be sent to his pension provider to apply the correct tax code or will he still need to speak to HMRC

It should be sent to both the pension provider and him within a few weeks.0

Thank you James. We had thought that HMRC should have sent him a copy of the revised code, but he wasn't aware of the change until his pension provider notified him of he change. What is even more annoying is that there was no need to reduce the code for 16/17, as his circumstances have not changed.0

I changed my tax codes via my personal tax account page, a week later I received my revised tax coding from hmrc - for once a very useful site from .gov
