Failed deliveries

Pretty new to all this, so not too sure if this is being discussed elsewhere, or if I have put this in  the right place.

Anyway, ordered vacuum cleaner from QED and was promised delivery for yesterday.  Suffice to say, it didn't turn up.  After hassling them this morning, it was duly delivered.  I spoke to the telephonist who dealt with my order, and then her supervisor, but the most they would offer me for a day at home waiting for a delivery which didn't arrive was £10.  I told them that I wouldn't use them again, and that I would post news of their poor service on a number of consumer websites, but they stuck to their guns and wouldn't budge from £10.

What kind of compensation can be expected in this situation, and how do you go about getting it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
