Another vote for the Manor House, Enniskillen. It is the genuine article. Beautiful hotel, friendly staff, great food, lovely rooms (upgrade to a suite if your budget stretches as they're great) and a meal in the main restaurant is a dining experience.
By contrast i am not a fan of the Lough Erne resort. Firstly, whilst they may describe them as "golf lodges" its like driving through a poorly maintained housing estate to get to the hotel.
Secondly, they've went to some trouble to make it all look authentic and genuine manor house styling, however they''ve done so with cheap fakes. For example, the round tables in the "drawing room" / bar area have little drawers around the sides, however they're fake drawers and the whole thing is made from cheap wood designed to look pretty.
They also automatically include a service charge (or they did when we were there) which is annoying.
Also, whilst they do "afternoon tea", to give ambiance they pipe piano music through the speakers - the Manor House, on the other hand, has a piano and a piano player.0 -
Oh I have to add, the Manors spa had a complete refurb earlier this year as well0

Must give the Manor House a go.
Have to admit, I was a bit disappointed with Lough Erne too. Paul nailed it, I see what it's trying to do, but it just fails. Rooms were also a disappointment for me.
Having said that, the food was pretty decent.0 -
Has anyone ever stayed at The G in Galway?
Going there next month..0 -
My vote would also be for Galgorm. We stay there every Christmas and can't fault it.The new extension is fantastic. The spa village is amazing,so much to see and do in it.
If money is no object, book into the Signature Suite...it is huge and has several rooms in it and a balcony with its own hot tub:D
Dine in the River Room, food and service is excellent.0 -
only problem with galgorm is that it is a very very popular place for weddings, almost all days of the week. ive been when there were 3 weddings on and it was mad, no peace and quiet and no chance of an appointment in the spa.
husband loved the manor house enniskillen although i preferred the lough erne gold resort.0
