before you buy anything check out www.freecycle.co.uk fantastic site where people give away things they no longer have any use for to prevent waste.
wishing you both luck in your new adventure!

Thanks MM, yes I have a few requests on there already, looking for bargains from eBay for other things and both our familys will be donating various bits, but I really meant cleaning product wise, cloths, etc!
The cooker, fridge and freezer (and washing machine) will already be there but might need a clean.0 -

When I moved house I took some wilko all purpose liquid which I used in hot water to clean down shelving, skirting boards etc. Some cream cleaner to scrub the bath (as ours was enamel so had to be careful what we used) and some wilko window cleaning spray. I also took some bleach for cleaning the toilet and for scrubbing with a toothbrush in between the bathroom tiles as these were a bit grotty. oh and some disinfectant for pouring down the plugholes to give them a good clean out. I also seemed to use a lot of old rags for cleaning skirtings etc and took plenty of cheapo kitchen roll....helpful for all emergencies (runny nose, drying hands, mopping up spills, alternative to loo roll if you forget it!)
Not very MSE, buying different products. Hopefully someone will come on here and say that all you need is soda cyrstals, vinegar, bicarb of soda and lemon juice. That would have been a big help and a lot cheaper.
HTH and good luck. You must be very excited.

PS. One tip about moving....I always put my bedding in a black bin liner and in the car so that once the bed is in place I can make the bed straight away without having to trawl through boxes of stuff. The same goes for the kettle, tea, coffee, sugar, spoons, mugs and choccy biccies - I stick them in a box and in the car because they are always needed straight away!0 -
I am very excited! thanks for the archieve threads PW, and for the tips on the bedding QSQ. I'm only moving 6 miles but OH is moving about 40 so it'll be easier for me to nip back to get things than for him, hence me doing most of the organising! He's very domesticated to be fair! As long as we have cooking, drinking and sleeping in place then the rest can be gradual. :j
I have some Stardrops - I'm guessing that's a good start!0 -
I know I've put this in an earlier thread but don't forget to get a TV licence
