    Good morning everyone
Good luck at SW today DUMPLING. Don't get downhearted if you haven't lost much 'cos you've had two big losses already. Hope your DD isn't too worked up about her exams today.

Thank you for the good luck wishes. I don't think I will be going today though as my poor dog has a bad case of the runs and I don't want to leave him on his own for the couple of hours I will be out of the house. I will see how he is by the time I have to leave but it was pretty bad for him (and us) this morning :eek:.

DD16 was quite calm this morning and feels she has revised enough for all the exams today. I will cook her one of her favourite teas tonight as a celebration or commiseration depending on how she feels they went.

I have shopping coming this evening so my fridge will look a little less like Mother Hubbard's cupboard. I will use up the last of the veg and make a nice soup. I have to take tha bacon out to defrost as well to make bacon and spinach spaghetti.

nmlc, I'm sorry you had to put up with all that nonsense yesterday, Hopefully today will be a lot calmer for you.

elaine, is it your birthday or did I miss it yesterday? Hope you had/ will have a lovely day anyway x Edited to add - it is today, Happy Birthday xx

Well I shall be on dogwatch today I think so I hope you all have a lovely day whatever you are up to, take care xx
  • Good Morning everyone light cloud here this morning but not cold by any means, I'm off to town on the bus for some food shopping and a visit to the hardware shop for some 'Brasso' to clean the brass bits on the woodstove, I know how to have a good time!!!

TA the only after effects are a lingering sense of crossness, not because the nit broke the mirror but because he didn't even slow down and he couldn't have known how much damage he'd done. However, we're not even shaken and the car is almost OK so I'm just grateful that it was a small crunch and is ONLY the mirror. Karma WILL catch him if the police don't for another such happening.

Lovely thing yesterday, Cookies owners have asked us if we'd have her at home here for a week in August when they go on holiday which will be so nice and has come at exactly the right time as there have been a few occasions lately when I've thought 'y'know what I wonder if I'd like another hound to play with?' so having the Cookster with us will tell me yay or nay on that head. Whatever, we'll love having her around, she's a sweetie!

Have yourselves a nice day everyone, Lyn xxx.

DUMPLING hope poor Max is a better boy very quickly, poor little mite!xxx.
  • Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.

Slightly better night, OH woke coughing about 1am, got him a drink, it was after 3 before I put the light off. He has got up this morning. He really has a nasty cold, I just hope it does not go onto his chest, that I can do without!! It takes him longer each time to throw things off, the misery drives me nuts, he just does not seem able to grasp that he is 82 and he should be thankful that he is able to do what he does. Still thinks he is 18!!

Its another bright day, cool in the shade, OH is going to cut the front grass, I need to get out there and weed as well, the ground, is dry on top but the clay underneath is awful despite all the manure we put in last autumn.

Need to clean the bedroom and put the dyson over the sitting room carpet and also the kitchen floor, with tramping in and out there is quite a bit of dried mud on the floor.

Supper tonight is lamb salad, might do rice pudding for dessert.

Im still trying to track down a family photo of my Late Uncle who was a High Ranking Flying Officer in WW2. Our long lost family member has left it a bit late really, she ought to have contacted us years ago when my Dad and my Auntie was still alive. My Uncle died in in 1953.... way before i was born. Ive got my daughter to contact my brothers girlfriend. For this family members sake and not for mine. I am really not that bothered but want to do my best for my newly 'discovered' Cousin. Mother wasnt very good with photographs. She'd got hundreds from her side of the family but none that i remember of Dads side. She didnt like them very much even though Mom and Dad were living with them for years. I dont think ive ever seen a picture of my Dads Mother even. Grandad died years before Mom and Dad married.

Hoping to bath the dogs today.... well at least one of them. If i dont get round to doing them both the other one will be done tomorrow. Its a job i hate.

    Onwards and forwards,

    have a great day all.

I have a hazy memory of a half lemon dipped in salt to clean copper.

Nice day so far and have another load of washing hanging out on the whirly. Omelette for breakfast and have chicken cooking for a chicken salad lunch and then a chicken and mushroom noodle dish for tonight with a couple of portions to freeze.

The wallpaper in the downstairs hall is being stripped ready to be reskimmed ready for painting in a nice clear light reflecting colour.
Disappointed that the trench coat I ordered arrived three sizes too small and not sure whether to make a quick trip into York to look for another. Forecast is a lot of rain tomorrow.

Dumpling I have SW tomorrow night but if it is raining heavily I might go on Thursday morning instead.

    Happy Birthday Elaine :bdaycake::bdaycake:

    Hugs to all

Thanks Elona - I've tried that too, it and it's not too effective. And the pot is at least two feet across and about the same high. I need something like (but not) a dip 'n' strip place for copper.

It's turned very cold here now, sun has gone, wind has come back and it has a real nip in it.

My mum phoned in a state of some anxiety as her laptop is downloading W10. I'm just hoping she can still recognise how to use it once it's all finished. I'm going down anyway on Monday but may have to zip down earlier to help her if it's not the same. Mind you, after the email I got earlier from Oz I'm just grateful that all her marbles are intact and her ducks all lined up!

Have you tried ketchup or cheap cola and leaving it for a few hours?

An American suggests putting pan upside down in sink , coating with salt , then adding wine vinegar, then more salt, leaving for a minute then using a soft pan scourer vigorously all over for a few minutes then rinsing. It reckons it takes about a minute or two (it is a smaller pan though).

The builder is very kindly giving me a lift to York so I can return something I ordered and have a look at paint again.

    Hugs to all

Thanks for the suggestions Elona - I've tried all of those. As for putting it in the sink.... here's a pic of it. Wouldn't even fit in a bath (if I had one). I've put my phone next to for a sense of scale.

You can see my problem. Perhaps I should just leave it looking [STRIKE]scabby[/STRIKE] weathered?

    Afternoon all
NMLC, sounds like somewhere I used to work I wasn't allowed a fan on my desk in case someone threw it at me!!
I've finished work and got home in time to get the washing in as it's beginning to cloud over.
Writers circle this evening and I need to water a friends garden too.
Just to add a little extra joy to my life, the ex has reopened the case against me with the CSA, what fun.
    Have a good afternoon everyone.
    Hugs Hester
    Chin up, Titus out.
