IFA for investment

Hi,

I've got approx £150k which I want to put into funds or a portfolio of funds. It is currently in savings accounts and suchlike, some of which is within ISA.

I want to find an IFA to restructure my money and put some of it into a portfolio of funds in order to generate greater returns. (Yes, I'm aware of the risk etc).

However, I'm struggling to find an IFA who is coming in under 2% for charges for this service. I've been to a couple and they are either offering me a service which is a discretionary fund management (more suitable for larger investors). What I think I need for my level of investment is a bespoke portfolio or multi-asset funds.

From reading up, these would be cheaper than a DFM and should generate a better return than passive investment. It seems that the IFA's using a DFM are just middlemen passing on the work and taking a nice cut for very little risk or effort.

Who here in NI would be able to do this for a reasonable fee. Over a period of 10 years investment, the differences between these fees could get into tens of thousands and I'd rather hold on to as much as possible.

So, any recommended IFA's out there, perferably Belfast based or in the east.

Thanks.

I have been posting there. I've decided to use an IFA and want one that I can physically go to. Some of them were recommending self investment, but I'd rather go with an IFA. One on there stated the fees that I should expect and agreed that those I've alredy visited were either offering an inappropriate service for my amount of cash or higher than needed fees.

Hence why I came on here to get some actual IFA recommendations.

Personally, I’m a DIY investor although with that sum of money I can understand why you would seek an IFA.

A forum like this will provide little more yield than a brief Google search. Just as you wouldn’t follow an anonymous person’s “advice” on investing, I’m not sure why you think a personal but anonymous recommendation for an IFA is preferable.

With recent changes in regulation the fee structure is much more standardised. That said, many advisors offer a free first consultation so why not go along to see a few to see what you think of them?

I'm not looking for a recommendation. I'm looking to see if it is possible to get an IFA here in NI to do this work for under 2% TER. I'll judge the IFA on merit when I see him/her.

Think there are a few people in Nigeria who could help.

Hmm doubt it. But in case you are interested, here's that google search:

Maybe call a few and ask about fee structure? They have to be open about it.

Try michael at CRN- based near forestside. Have used him before and would recommend- charged us under 2% for similar amount.
