Tesco mobile possible default

Hi,

Wondering if I can ask for advice. I am currently £7000 in debt and on a debt management plan.
I have had a Tesco mobile contract for years and have recently had a paycut.
Tesco mobile is costing me £98.00 per month. I am finding it increasingly difficult to manage this
I rang Tesco and asked to repay over a longer period of time and put the contract on a pay as you go.
I know they are a business, but they said there is nothing they can do and it has to go to a debt collection company before I can sort out a repayment plan.
This will take a few months and they will cose my account down. Is that right? I would owe close to £1000

Yes that's essentially correct, the contract would end, and you would be liable for all outstanding payments, plus line rental till the end of your original contract, or 30 days notice, whichever applies to you.

£98.00 pounds a month seems very excessive, why is it so much ?

Mobile telecoms companies are not interested in payment plans, it's easier and more cost effective for them to get a DCA to collect it on there behalf.

You will be able to make a payment arrangement with whichever DCA picks it up, or if you wait a year or so, they will sell on the debt to someone like Lowell or cabot.

I know the feeling, my 14 year old daughter ran up a bill of over £400 quid one month, orange weren't interested in doing anything about it either.
