BR taxcode help

in Cutting tax
Hello.
I've got a new job and my payslips say that the taxcode is "BR" I have my own business that makes maybe £1000 max yearly.
My new job is giving me approx 900-1300 per month, but I am getting taxed full whack, despite working for 6.70/h. My supervisors get taxed less than me and it is kind of stressful.
Can anything be done so my tax wont be so high with my new job? Also is it possible to get my money back, or is it gone forever? :undecided
Thank you.

Did you go from one employer to another?
If so did you give them your P45?
If not did you complete a starter checklist (similar to the old P46)?
Is your business as a sole trader or ltd company?0 -

A lot depends on when you started this job and what your own 'business' is (self employed I guess but could be limited company director?)
If you had tax deducted in the tax year to 5-4-2-2016 then you cannot claim this back from your employer or directly from HMRC instead you need to include the employment details on your self assessment tax return and it will be taken into account in your annual tax calculation. If you didm;t earn enough to pay tax in 15-16 then hmrc will send you a refund based on the entries on your tax return.
For the 16-17 tax year phone HMRC or send the form xylophone has given a link to and once your tax code is amended your employer will make any refund due when you get paid next (remember this will only be excessive tax deducted in the current tax year, 6-4-16 - 5-4-17)0
