Welcome, I think it's important to remember that you will have slip ups along the way but dealing with it is better than not! I have found it quite addictive once you start and being on here makes you feel more accountable. Some of the challenges are really good too.

Good luck I will subscribe to keep and eye on your progress.

  • Hi Steve

Wishing you all the best of luck with your journey. I made my first post about three years ago and my debt was 3k. I had to join again last August and my debt had risen to almost 8k so please don't think you are the only one. I will be debt free on 26th of this month. It honestly has been the hardest yet most rewarding thing I have done I am still trying to reign in my 'want' thoughts but I am getting there.

Even if you don't really have anything to post. Make sure you read these boards everyday. It really does help.

    Best of Luck

Wishing you all the best on your debt free journey. I have been lurking here for ages now cleared 80% of my debt but to be honest the harsh remarks along the way, have given me a shake when I needed it.

Actually appreciated people pulling my SOA to bits, helped so much along with NST debt free challenge, lets just say I had a few run ins with Kat (who started it up) about my spending at first. Now conditioned me to think before spending so much, got a guilty feeling buying anything I don't really need. Now in the right mindset to clear my debt by xmas.

When you have got yourself into gear, come along and join the fun in June.

It is amazing how many people are in the same situation. I was even more amazed when I realised how low my actual debt is compared to a lot of other people on here. We are all on the same journey and are here for a reason, to be debt free and to break away from the cycle!

Glad your nearly debt free mate. I have set my target as May 2018 to be debt free so fingers crossed!

    Hello all,

A quick status update on how I have been getting on since my last post!

I now owe just £2650 on my RBS loan so another 7 months and that will be gone completely.

I have also managed to get my overdraft down to £250 which is the interest free limit so no longer spending money on interest charges which helps a bit.

Mortgage coming down slowly but surely and I owe just over £6000 on my Barclaycard but looking to swap to another provider and getting a nice 0% transfer.

All in all feel much better about my debts and once the loan is paid I can hammer paying off the credit card so I will attain the goal of owning just the mortgage!

Thanks for reading and good luck on your money saving journeys!
    Steve
