Glad I am not the only one. Call me cynical, but is this deliberately over complicated, so that Joe Public has no hope of checking what he is entitled to receive?

I prefer to think it's incompetence. Lots of people are going to be thinking they will get this COPE payment. Probabky for every 1 post here asking there are 100 financially clueless who will just think that is a payment they will get from the government.

I suspect they will be phoning up the pension people and asking where their COPE payment is, once they start getting their state pension and notice their is no separate COPE payment amount.

Pensions folk are making a rod for their own backs with the way they have (badly) explained this.

Private pension providers dislike strongly the highlighting of COPE in state pension forecasts but since the current pensions minister demanded its introduction it is unlikely to go before she does.

    Thanks for the info.

Here's an idea wouldn't it make sense for HMG to get the Campaign For Plain English involved to make this info understandable or do they want it to be complicated on purpose.
