Checkatrade leaflets, are they successful?

How successful are checkatrade leaflets? Apparently, they send them out through the Royal mail. Also, if they were hand delivered would they still be successful?

I have never heard of them, so my answer would be they are completely useless.

I have to say though you do seem to post some odd things containing very specific words or phrases. Do you work for an SEO company by any chance?

You need to be a bit more specific.

I've seen Checkatrade booklets but not leaflets.

What do you mean by hand delivered? By the trader rather than postie?

If you want meaningful responses then take the time to provide the background and EXPLAIN what you need to know.

Why should people take the time to respond if you can't even be bothered to string a few sentences together?

Any leaflets I get, whether hand delivered or mailed go straight in the bin. Should I make a note of the company on the ad, its only to ensure NEVER to do business with them. ;)

I had a CheckaTrade leaflet through my mailbox last year and kept it as I'd newly moved into my flat and didn't have any contacts in the area. I found a really good electrician and a decent plasterer using the leaflet. So yes, it was successful in matching me to two tradespeople.

I also had a leaflet come through recently and kept it to the side as I have moved into a new place. If you are a builder looking for work, I would also suggest going on rated people

Would they prosecute him? Would the police get involved?

Companies cannot prosecute, they can only sue. Just tell your friend not to be so stupid, either pay Checkatrade the money or produce his own leaflets.

Did you go on the website or just call from leaflet?

Someone told me it would be criminal- fraud and that someone went to prison for over a year for claiming they were on checkatrade. Is this true? Suing is just civil isn't it?

If people would actually be bothered to pursue this and it really is criminal then I guess create your own name- checka tradesman rather than checkatrade for example change a few pictures and symbols (if these are also classed as copyright) but keep most of leaflet the same with the other tradesman on the leaflet and you wouldn't technically be committing fraud, infact the other tradesman (not in your trade)would be getting free advertising. I just think having a list of tradesman like checkatrade do perhaps looks more professional than a person just posting leaflets through just for themselves. Or maybe it makes no difference! I think these leaflets are kept by old dears and new people to towns and do find people work!

What exactly do you want people to say?

You seem to spend a lot of time trying to find 'work-arounds' - sometimes life is just easier when you just accept the rules and play by them.
