Wongas debt write-off- defualt removal?

Hi there

I had a loan back in 2013 which being honest i wouldn't pay back, And knew it... Wongas write-off came and helped me out majorly!

I've just checked my credit file and i can see i have a year and a half worth of defaults. (bet you know my score is low)

From what i've read shouldn't they have removed all history of loans from before 2014?

Sam

I believe that was a part of there redress program yes.

You should write to wonga and find out why it hasn't been done, then insist they do remove it from your records.

I'll get right on it! Hopefully removing all these defaults should make a huge improvement on my report. I hope anyways! haha! Still got some things on there that i'm not proud of :(

    Hi Samnymr,

I think you could write to Wonga and ask them to remove the recurring default from your file, if you were one of the customers who had their balances written off through the 2014 redress scheme. If they refuse then you could escalate the matter to the Information Commissioner.

Any default pre-dating the redress may not be as straight forward. I have checked the FCA information regarding this and they don't seem to specify the necessary action in relation to credit files - only the action for the balances - so this may be more discretionary than a certainty. I think it is worth a complaint though because if the loan was written then how can they justify a recurring a default? Good Luck

Just to keep people updated, for whoever reads this. Wonga haven't contacted me back at all. Being absolute nightmares about it i've had to go to the ombudsman for support.

    Thanks
