Driving or taking the train to (near) London and tubing it in

  • If you give the specific location, or if you prefer within a few hundred metres im the Londoners could provide some really good ideas.

    Perhaps drive to outer London early to avoid traffic and find a residential street/pay & display to park in, then do the rest on a cycle. Depending on car size you could probably get one in the boot.

    I agree with The Groat Counter regarding the alternative ticketing site.

    As for car parking, Hillingdon is likely to be best, however Ickenham is cheaper and not too far out of your way.
  • I've come across mentions of the car park at Hillingdon tube station getting full up quite early, though I don't know more than that.

    Both Hillingdon and Ickenham aren't ideal locations for those coming in on the M4, they are better for the M40/A40.

    Truth is this is a busy corridor coming from the west into Londonj along which a lot of people want to travel, hence the higher fares and congestion regardless of how you travel.
