SLC demanding bank statements
Hi,
I'm currently away travelling and am therefore not replying my student loan through HMRC at the moment.
I've had some very strongly worded letters sent to me which my parents have opened, demanding to know my travel itinerary and copies of bank statements proving I can afford to support myself.
Does anyone know if they are entitled to any of this information? I don't see why it's any of their business! They'll know when I'm back and HMRC start taking money from me again, why should I tell then my personal details??
Thanks,
Nick

I think they are entitled to collect were you working abroad rather than just travelling so i guess they are looking for evidence tht you are travelling not working.
Seems fair enough?£1000 Emergency fund No90 £1000/1000
LBM 28/1/15 total debt - [STRIKE]£23,410[/STRIKE] 24/3/16 total debt - £7,298

Surely they already have your person details because you needed to give them for your application?
They just want proof that you aren't earning money and therefore avoiding paying back student loans which you owe. If you have nothing to hide its a simple case of, this is what money I have and what I am living off and therefore don't pay any student loans.
However if it turns out you do have a job, and you should be paying student loan and aren't (it doesn't matter if you are abroad, if you are earning certain amounts outside of the UK, you owe student loan repayments), then you should do some seriously looking at yourself in the mirror.0
