But it was referred to in posts 5 & 6 so just supplied info that I had gained, like almost everyone who answers posts.
No, no-one in any post in this thread has mentioned, queried or asked about the cost of booking reserved seats... except in your post of course.

There is normally no charge to book seats, whether advance or normal tickets
Where a charge comes in on some websites is a fee for just selling you a ticket or using a credit card or mailing it to you.

I'm a bit puzzled by your normal fare of £84 from Redruth to Bristol Parkway. For the vast majority of trains the normal fare is £46.50 - only on a few peak trains is it more

I've personally found this to be false. I've tried 12 weeks ahead and found nothing but full fares. tried 10 weeks ahead and found a few slightly cheaper. Tried a month ahead and found the full selection. even bought the cheapest ticket the day before.

In short. they can release their cheap fares whenever they feel like it.

National Rail enquiries has a page showing the furthest date in advance that individual Train companies have released Advance tickets for here

In my experience, the most common reasons for there being delays in releasing tickets is due to engineering work schedules not being finalised - most common at weekends, particularly around bank holidays.
