removed two full stops (says they ARE allowed anyway). Still makes no difference !0 -
Perhaps it's doing a grammar and spelling check. For instance, puonds and thirtyfive.0

If you typed it in as it appears in your posting, then you used the enter key. I got tripped up in the same way as I also had three paragraphs to enter in this box. Can't remember what I substituted to form pseudo-paragraph-breaks - probably ............. but it worked0 -

You are absolutely correct - cannot believe that this still occurs after all these years.
Use the space bar to get on to the next line.0 -

As HMRC now outsources all its IT it is forced topay to make any changes to the technology or the services that it provides.
To make a simple change to the online tax return form costs tens of thousands of pounds, and so for things like this where it willnot recognise the enter/return key it simply isn't worth the cost of putting it right.
I submitted a sugggestion a few years ago regarding the online and paper P11d, suggesting an end date box be included for medical insurance (Not somuch of an issue now). The idea reached the final stage of the process and was stopped only because of the cost of changing the forms and the online form. The cost was well into 6 figures.
The only changes they tend to make to the online tax return are those which are enforced, absolutely necessary and unavoidable.[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.

Don't forget that if HMRC have issued a tax return to you then you still have to complete it, otherwise you will end up with late filing penalties.
Submitting an R40 won't fulfil your filing obligations. In fact HMRC may well reject your R40 if they have issued a tax return.0
