Have you tried Citibank? They will accept most people (there was a thread on here about them a few months ago) - I applied for an account and have a terrible credit rating - they accepted me for an account with a proper debit card with no trouble. I can't have an overdraft with them, but I don't mind that - I'm just glad that I have an account with a card that is accepted pretty much everywhere.DFW Nerd No. 140

How weird, but they accept this card in their stores!!
I have to say that I use my visa electron in a lot of places and it has never been refused!
Its stupid really because its the same for everyone, if the money not in the account you dont get the goods! Obviously us "bad risk" people with our shamefull visa electron cards are not worthy to use their online facilities!

I beleive that the *techie* explination goes something like this:
Switch is in effect a credit facility <the purchase can go through without the funds to pay>
Solo / Electron is not <the funds with only go through if the funds are there>
In order for Solo/Electron to always be checked then the store in question must have a 24 hour online PDQ machine (I thinks thats what they are called) ~ those that dont wont except Solo/Electron.
Hope that makes some sense :rotfl::heartpuls baby no3 due 16th November :heartpulsTEAM YELLOWDFD 16/6/10"Shut your gob! Or I'll come round your houses and stamp on all your toys" The ONE, the ONLY, the LEGENDARY Gene Hunt :heart2:0 -
call me s stupid idiot but surely wouldnt it be best if all cards like that did not allow the transaction to "go through" if their is not enough money???
No wonder the UK is in record debt :rolleyes:0 -

Mmm maybe it's just the places I want to shop lol, never mind. Solo seems to be accepted more widely so looking to go with Natwest, found that if Partner and I have sep. accounts the better we are, so we've got joint with electron, going to Natwest because they do a Solo!

At present we've found that Tesco, National Rail and Travel Lodge/Inns won't accept them. I was told by a bod at Tesco that when you place an order you are not paying for it straight away. You are not charged until they do the order and then there may not be enough money to cover the bill

I found that if a site doesn't appear to accept Electron then try putting in under Visa and it more often than not works.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0
