Not sure who to thanks as I can't find the post but just got a message on FB to say I won a bottle of Camp Coffee essence from Saga - one of ten winners!

First win of May so very pleased :-)

    I can't believe they're still going. We used that in the 70s when there was a coffee shortage and prices shot up. Vile, minging stuff it was. I gave up coffee because of that :)

    I use it in baking - coffee cakes etc.....I can't believe people drink it!! lol

    That's because you've not lived through real food shortages - when you have to make do and find alternatives.... unfortunately, my mum (with countless thousands of others) found Camp :)

    When there was a potato shortage, we used parsnips - not so bad.
    When there was a butter shortage, it was Stork block margarine (although we didn't use butter at home to start with).

    But for coffee... it was the minging Camp :)
