Understanding Aldi payslip

Hoping someone can explain to me how Aldi wages work and how they are displayed on payslips.

In the income column there are two rows +/- an additional for holiday pay. The two rows are 'Basic003' and 'Extra005' each with a rate, unit and value. Some months the Extra005 row is deducted from income whilst other months it's added. I am not confusing this with normal deductions such as tax, national insurance, pension schemes etc. It is a negative value in the income column.

He says their payslips represent the previous months actual hours worked but I still dont see why there should be deductions and there is no correlation between the Extra005 unit of hours mon the to month. Say in April he worked 20 hours overtime, even getting paid a month behind it should just be 20 hours overtime in this row in the May payslip rather than a deduction from April's pay?

Would just like clarification if possible, thanks.

  • Could it be that the payslip Basic003 is showing the total hours contracted per week/month, and the Extra005 is showing any adjustments to that?

    Eg
Contracted to 40 hours per week, 4 weeks in the month
    So Basic003 shows 160 hours
However on 5 days he was sent home 2 hours early so didn't actually work for 10 of his contracted hours
    So Extra005 shows -10

And the opposite if he has done overtime.

I honestly don't know how it works, that's just my take based on your description. THe only way to get a definitive answer is to ask the employer

I don't work for Aldi but that is how my wage slip works too. You can also get things moved about. IE

    Basic pay -300
    Hol pay +300
