Reclaiming from self-excluded betting sites

As someone who has struggled with sports betting/gambling for many years and constantly self-excluded myself from these sites to protect myself from them as a self preservation mechanism (as i am more than aware that in the long run there is only winner), i have on several occasions found myself being able to re-open accounts at some of these sites and incurred losses only to then self exclude myself again.
I appreciate the complexity of this issue, and how absurd gambling is to most people, and that many would say that people who bet deserve to lose (a fool and his money and all of that etc etc). Nevertheless, my question on this occasion is not about the rights and wrongs of it, but whether bookmakers should be responsible and in some cases liable for refunds, in the same way banks have repaid PPI and payday lenders have made repayments.
I am specifically referring to scenarios when many people have acknowledged their problem of gambling to the bookmakers and basically said enough is enough i cant take any more and have been proactive and self excluded themselves from these sites to then subsequently succumb and be allowed back on to them. I know that this has happened to many many other people with major bookmakers and whilst i take full responsibility for my actions i would be keen to hear of any advice anyone would have in regard to whether it is plausible to chase these bookmaker for refunds.
Thanks

I like this idea!
Lose money to a bookmaker and he has to refund it.
Can you not see how such a system would be open to abuse by the punter? If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0 -
Made my day this one and I might look into all sorts of claims along the lines below :-
Can I claim from a previous girlfriend who gave me a std ?
Can I claim from myself for working long hours ?
Can I claim from the supermarket for not having things in stock that want ?
Can I claim from God due to not having as much sunny weather as I'd like ?
You see the pattern emerging here and whilst you may have a gambling issue it is down to you to gain some self control and perhaps address the issue in hand, Maybe just a thought but you could also try specific organisations set up that assist in this type of addiction.0 -
All you can do is make a complaint to the Bookmaker/Firm and state your case. If you achieved a refund of some sort, the flood gates would open up and lots of ex punters would be claiming. You have nothing to lose by complaining so give it a try, good luck!!!!!!!!!10
