Is it possible to "lose" some State Pension?

I've been deferring my SP and last week made a claim by phone.
The woman dealing with my claim said it was lucky I'd called on a Wednesday as my "pay day" is Tuesday and that way I wouldn't lose any SP.
Surely folk don't lose a small part of their entitlement by claiming on the "wrong day"? The only reason I called last Wednesday was it was the end of a five-week period; "pay days" hadn't crossed my mind.
I'm hoping she was simply referring to the fact I hadn't lost 1% by claiming at the wrong time.

It is talking about the "odd days" between the SPa date and the first payday. Under the old rules (before nSP) you don't get paid for.
It makes no difference what day of the week you claim on, the first week will pay from the day after the payday to a payday.0 -
Try as I may, I cannot figure out when my first state pension payment will be.
How hard can it be for DWP to be able to tell you when your first payment will be when you tell them the date you want to start taking it, in my case of rom my 65th birthday?
Just an observation fj0 -
The entitlement notice, which you should get when you claim, tells you how you will be paid and the date of the first payment, doesn't it?0

Is this still the case under the new rules (eg. man reaching 65 after April 2016)? Or do we now get paid these "odd days"? I can't find any references one way or the other on the net.greenglide wrote: »It is talking about the "odd days" between the SPa date and the first payday. "Under the old State Pension scheme payments are normally made only
for full weeks and your State Pension starts from your first pay day after
you are entitled to payment. In the new State Pension scheme from April 2016, payment will start from the day you reach State Pension age."0 -
Thanks xylophone - both for the prompt response and for the link. I tried various google searches before posting here, but that wasn't one of the hits.
I assume the quid pro quo is that under the new system you only get pension up to the date of death rather than to the end of the payment week in which death occurs. Although I don't see that mentioned in the AgeUK document.
Thanks again.

The fact I won't get paid beyond my date of death isn't a huge concern to me! Having said that even if I hadn't got the odd days between SPa and the payday that isn't the end of the world either.0
