Just had a look at my on line banking and my lump sum has dropped into my account. Possibly time for a small treat and the rest can go into savings...

LOL mgdavid and xylophone. It has and I am. I have decided that being 60 is the new 50!

Did you get it sorted dreaming?

For some reason, I start to feel a little depressed every time I think about getting a pension, I don't feel a day over 50!

Hi there - yes it is all sorted thanks. The pensions forecast arrived within the 3 weeks and is better than I thought. Although I had got my head round not having state pension until 2021 (aged 66) one thing I had missed under the new rules was not being able to claim against my ex-husband's contributions whilst I was not working. Think it is ok as I get credit for receiving family allowance (is it still called that?) for that time. So all looks good for 5 years time.
Saw in your later post that you have received your lump sum and plan to treat yourself. I bought a garden bench from mine although haven't had much time to sit on it over the past week or so with the rain but next week it is meant to be brightening up. I don't mind (too much) getting older - it's better than the alternative after all - and even the dodgy knees just remind me of the fun I had dancing when I was younger. Hope you get yourself something lovely.

I'm getting a patio dreaming! At least I think so. A younger friend who is like a nephew to us has said he will show me some lovely slabs that look like stone. Very much looking to it!

That sounds great. I hope you have many years of enjoyment sitting on it eating those ice creams you talked about.

    Thanks dreaming...

Well, t the beginning of this thread I said I was a bit down thinking about becoming a "pensioner", but today I'm excited! Tomorrow being the last banking day of the month I will get my first approximately £80 per month pension payment! Woohoo! As soon as that is in I can do my "Save £12,000 in 2016" transfer which will take me over my target and the year is only half over! Of course, when the patio is completed there will be a negative transfer but hey ho, I will have saved the money in the first place and not squandered it. (I'm constitutionally unable to squander.)
