Thanks fermi, much appreciated. I just wanted to check - how do you know the PRA one will drop off by July this year, and the others by November 2016 (something on my credit report)?

My concern is that they won't drop off and will stay around, as I would like to start a business and having them on my credit record will hold me back.

All defaults and details of an account and it's history are removed from your report 6 years from the initial

    "Date of Default"

    as recorded on your report.

Experian/CreditExpert remove them automatically themselves at exactly 6 years. The creditor/DCA has no say in that.

As you dates are from end of June to end of October 2010, they will be dropped during 2016 with all gone by November 2016.

Thanks fermi, that's really helpful. I'll wait for the PRA/Cabot ones to drop off this year as I assume I don't really have any other options towards cleaning my credit record up further/quicker though.

this incorrect information has damaged the person ability to get the best rate credit else where I would assume because it has been placed wrongly.

i think you should pursue them for a refund each.

if they don't pay up complain to the FOS in the way they have mishandled your credit information.

I claimed £250 quid from santander for this very reason.

if it adversely affects you because of a mistake they made, then that mistake should be corrected monetarily.

Hi fusionx212, did you originally complain directly to Santander or was the debt purchased by a 3rd party who you wrote to?

I ask as my debts had been with 3rd parties for a long time, so complaining to the original parties wouldn't be as relevant for myself. Thanks

I complained directly to Santander but I have also been successful with third parties as well. One I complained via the credit agency against PRA directly.

However in your situation put your complaint in stating this has caused you issues surrounding credit applications and you are seeking compensation for that part.

speak to the fos after 8 weeks if they don't compensate you etc.

they have very likely caused you to be declined or received less favourable offers of credit.

if the debt collection people made they mistake with your information then they are liable to resolve and compensate.
