Wrong Postage Being Displayed in Ebay's Search Engine

Hi

I have listed some products with the following postage options:

Free economy delivery (2nd class)
First Class (paid)
Express (paid)

I've searched for my products on Ebay, and it's regularly showing the wrong postage costs; 50% of the time it shows the paid First Class option, and 50% of the time the free delivery option.

Is this a bug? Obviously it puts my listings at significant disadvantage, and I've had to remove 1st Class and Express Delivery for now (in order to force it show the Free option.)

Any ideas what is going on?

It's a bug, it's been happening for several weeks now and users on the community board are getting very frustrated.

Thanks. I thought I was imagining it. It's no good at at all, I have had to remove the 1st Class and Express options for now (in order to force the display of Free Delivery.)

I'd imagine that removing the above postage options could impact my listing visibility, so it's a Catch 22.

I believe that the Ebay ranking algorithm rewards sellers who offer a variety of delivery options.

As well as above, find some listings (including mine) show contact seller for postage costs instead of the postage you put in.

Someone has posted a semi-workaround.

If you have a free option add a second option (it must be second and not third) as the same timescale and price it at 1p. Then add in your expedited if you offer it.

The 'wrong postage' items are then only showing a 1p P&P.

I appreciate your posting this ^^^^^ but how sad is it when eBay has been aware for weeks that sellers are losing their search placements etc etc...


They have an IT dept. that cannot sort it? or is it simply not a priority for them.

None of those. It is the fact that it is Ebay's IT department. :eek:

I contacted Ebay support, and told a rep about the issue. They seemed quite oblivious to what is going on, and said they would pass it to tech.

I asked for a rough idea of when they would get back to me, and was given no clear indication. I also asked for a reference number, and wasn't given any. It was all very vague.

I actually might try and get refunded for my basic Ebay store setup, as I am really not happy with the situation.

I found one of mine displaying the Express delivery option as default in the search results! This was a low value item for which nobody would want to pay for Special Delivery. Even worse, I found another one showing collect in person as default. Again, it wasn't something for which I'd expect a customer to use that option, but I don't usually bother unticking it because if someone does happen to live locally it's no great inconvenience for me to let them collect.

Does anyone know if this issue has been resolved? I contacted Ebay's help desk about this almost 2 weeks ago, and have heard nothing back from them :-(
