Thunderbird "Too Many IMAP Connections'

Hello everyone!
This is a new problem, being that it has only started today and up until now Thunderbird has worked perfectly with both of my Gmail accounts.
When Thunderbird tries to get new mail, I get a little pop up that says "Unable to connect to your IMAP server. You may have exceeded the maximum number of connections to this server. If so use the Advanced IMAP Server Settings dialog to reduce the number of cached connections."
I've reduced the number to '1' in the advanced settings to no avail. I've also signed out of all web sessions and on my phone still to no avail. I can, however, fetch emails via my phone so it seems that it's just Thunderbird that has the problem. I updated Thunderbird after this error occurred but that also hasn't rectified it.
I can't get mail either automatically or manually.
Does anyone have any ideas, please? I've followed all the steps that various threads via Google suggested but nothing's worked!
Thank you.
ETA - I've also restarted Thunderbird with all add-ons disabled which hasn't helped either.

Appears to be a persistent bug for some. You may have to revert to using the web interface until its fixed.0
