Hi all
found this website today in a magazine - http://www.carbolicsoap.com/
not for me as I am terribly attached to mr muscle, demestos etc, but for those of you that may be interested looks like they have some fairly interesting stuff.

That brought back some memories!!
I remember my Mum using a washboard for hand washing when I was a little girl and I also remember my Dad insisting on washing in either carbolic soap or Lifeboy.

I was thinking earlier that I hadn't done anything money saving today, but I have actually. I took some shoes and trousers back to Asda and as I didn't have a receipt they gave me a refund on a card. I bought four bottles of Stardrops, 58p each, I am looking forward to trying it out tomorrow.
Also today I have ordered some soapnuts, which are a natural product for cleaning clothes, an alternative to washing powder which I am also looking forward to trying. Apparently you don't need any softener either. So double savings.
I got a letter today from my new utilities supplier, which is saving me £120 a year; so thats good, the switch is going ahead ok.
I have done a couple of surveys today which is always worth a few bob. What we do with our survey money is we use it to buy cd's or presents; luxuries we couldn't otherwise afford. Its nice when you can treat yourself and you know it hasn't come out of "family" money.
So actually, its not been a bad day for money saving, be it old style or new style.:D

Thanks to OS board, I am now totally converted away from 'normal' cleaning products i.e. Mr Muscle etc, Stardrops is absolutely brilliant, and now use washing soda for laundry and that gets rid of all my stains - plus they are both sooo much cheaper than the mega brands.0
