on my ipad now if I am am in facebook via the app if say I am on the York press website or 10 ways and I click on a link the screen just goes blue

if I go through safari as usual I can click on links with no issues - has anyone any clues as to what I can do.

Yes I need to do an IOS update which I am not happy about. Yes I really need to save to the cloud first but it keeps telling me I don't have enough space, however many things I shut down ...
