That sounds lovely bubbs, I'm glad your sister is pleased with it.

LEJC, special hugs for you. :A

Thanks everyone for thinking of me today. :A

Its been an odd 24 hours. Good in lots of ways. The traffic gods were definitely smiling on me last night, I got to Manchester in 2 hours 15 minutes which is pretty impressive, traffic was a dream. Accommodation was basic, like some kind of 70's throwback with ancient furniture your granny would have, but it did the job and I was very grateful to have a bed for the night so I could split the driving over 2 days. Didn't sleep much, combination of uncomfortable bed and just thinking about today.

Got to my friend about 8.45. She was just like she always has been, only iller if that makes sense? Was so lovely to see her. Beforehand I was scared I was going to cry and be emotional, but actually we just talked away, I can just talk so easily with her (and I'm not much of a talker normally, pretty shy). She was struggling to breathe, the talking didn't help, and was also quite uncomfortable as for whatever reason she is retaining fluid and bloating up and her ankles were so swollen. She was quite fidgety to try and get comfy. She kind of nodded off a few times, which was absolutely fine.

We talked about all sorts of things. Shes at peace with whats happening, she has had 18 months to come to terms with it and kind of knew with the decline that things weren't going to be great. We were able to talk frankly, and I managed not to cry at all, just let her talk about whatever she wanted to. Shes ready to go, she doesn't feel great and has had enough, and I get that.

I wrote her a letter yesterday, telling her how grateful I was that she had come into my life and what an amazing friend she has been. I couldn't say that stuff to her as I would have got too upset, and I didn't want to. She read it, as her husband messaged me just as I got home to say she felt the same as me.

The hardest thing was leaving. I didn't want to say goodbye, but what on earth do you say to someone that is dying and you are very likely not to see again? I just gave her a massive hug and handed the letter over and told her to read it later.

I told her I could go up on Saturday or Tuesday, if she is still with us, but she actually says she hopes she will be gone by then, or at least so out of it she doesn't know whats going on. I can't imagine just waiting to die, knowing you've only likely got a few days but not knowing when. I told her it must be very strange, if it was me every time I woke up I'd be saying to myself "still here then", and she said it is very much like that.

I was there when the registrar came round, he was absolutely lovely, great bedside manner (easy on the eye too!), must be really hard as a Dr to know how to pitch it with patients that are dying, but he was spot on. She also had some reflexology whilst I was there that they come round and do which relaxed her a bit.

It sounds weird to say, but it was a really good visit. If I get to go up again, great, if not then I know that today was brilliant for both of us.

Her parents came this afternoon, I left before they got there as I didn't want to intrude. Unfortunately they haven't had nearly 18 months to come to terms with it like I have, and to be honest she wasn't really looking forward to the visit. Hopefully they didn't stay too long, I think I probably tired her out but we both agreed it was worth it.

    Hugs x

I get what you mean about a good visit. Take enormous comfort from today as it sounds like it was exactly like both of you needed it to be.
Has your friend been transferred to the hospice yet?
Glad the drive was good. That was incredibly quick.

Mums birthday today (no she is not TS). Art day and obligatory chocolate cupcakes were taken to share. They were very good ones from morrisons. Ladies were reminiscing about the cakes of their childhoods which was nice.
Mum loved her cup and saucer and will use every morning for her first 2 cups of tea to motivate her for day ahead. It is so beautiful but Oops not dishwasher proof.

So pleased your visit was a good one LS, it sounds like you both benefited from it. More than anything I hope that when the time comes, your friend's passing is a peaceful one. It's good that she is accepting and ready, not battling it. Love to you both x

I think some of the "More" points offers have ended in M, so I will be removing those items from the list.

I've seen too many Ms for my liking displaying 62p price on these, just so you know.

I did try to encourage one last week to change to the correct price by moving the SEL. They've now got two 62p labels on the shelf:(:rotfl:.

36 items (11 different) on your receipt qualify for comparison Asda Morrisons

    1x ASDA Fresh Milk Skimmed (4 PINT) £0.95 £1.00

I was shopping today, noticed Asda have put the price of 4 pints of milk up to 95p! When did this go up? not widely publicised was it?, its creeping up from the old 89p it used to be. Tesco £1.

I don't see how cpi can be 0.5% when there are so many things going up now. Petrol up to 105.9 from 95.9, cost of eating out up,. Even carveries are up to nearly £8, hotels up, airfares not any cheaper even though fuel has fallen.....

It looks like Morrisons' 6 pint milks have, indeed, gone back to straight £1.30 according to msm. This is even though one of my Ms had not quite yet removed all 2 for £2 indications from its shelving. As there appeared to have been no pricing change, I did not see to look in further Ms. Farmfoods 2L is/has been 2 for £1 - as far as I know that was due on for about another week still - and I have already moved onto there. Another reason why I ignored 6 pint milk price in M yesterday and didn't bother checking whether it was 2 for £2 or not. Either way - it's no good compared to Farmfoods. IMO.

The M mbuy on the milk was probably already off. It seems people do need me and I think they're missing me and my list so, sorry folks, I'll have to put that right as soon as I can. This may have gone to £1.30 on Monday although I did not do a price check then. Obviously, with the 2 for £2 price being so good (even though not as good as Farmfoods), they did not want to have that on for too long at all.
