Thursday 5 May 2016. What small dfw stuff will you do today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important!

Morning all.
Well it is free! Been standing for an hour keeping a young ewe still so her weak lamb can have breakfast . Dare not leave this to ds as he has no patience for this job. It really is an exceptionally stupid lamb!
Dd shopped yesterday total came to 48. Am really pleased as it was a large haul from ald!.
Long busy day in work ahead. I am counting days to weekend and sleep. Also free so that is a thought.
If anyone wants a free day old lamb ring me!!!!!
Have fun all

Morning maria

I've been up with dgd since 5.30  she crashed out at 5.30 last night so it was to be expected!

* swimming lesson with dgd this morning. Taking a packed lunch so we can go to a park afterwards
* after this will walk to £shop and get some plant pots and take dgd to the library
* return an item back to B&Q
* really must make these cakes today
* load of washing in machine & will hang out
* more gardening
* find more things for the composter...
* all meals from stores
* dinner is enchiladas using ys diced pork and veg that needs using
Read a really good article the other day on 10 habits of an organised house which was really great - included things like getting up early, making sure all dishes/kitchen is cleaned by the end of the day, get clothes lunches ready the night before the next day, get in the habit of wiping round the bathroom for 5 mins each day, do one full load of washing a day completely including putting it away, do a meal plan each week (I can't remember the rest!).
It said to try out 2 habits for a few weeks and once you are in the habit do another 2 etc. I've been doing the washing one - although am now completely up to date with my washing so would really struggle with a load a day now - and cleaning the kitchen in the evening & I naturally wake up early now. Even though it's only been a couple of days I do feel like it is making life a little simpler with dgd :T
Anyway ramblings! Have a great day guys xDF as at 30/12/16

Thanks for your comments yesterday my night sleep was a lot better last night though we didn't go to bed until nearly midnight which was silly.
A 2.30 finish today which is great especially as I am incredibly stressed at work at the moment so will look forward to getting out of the office as soon as possible! I woke up this morning to a text from my colleague who is on Hong Kong -she has left me a container shipment to sort which is going from China to our US warehouse and it is turning out to be a legal nightmare and I could just cry....I need to man up today!
List for today
Man up!!
Hubby has a defrosted casserole for lunch....however we aren't sure if it has any meat in it so he has bread to eat as a soup if not
I have soup that needs to be eaten by the weekend
We had no bread so I defrosted two paninis for the kids. I made one as cheese and the other as marmite and they have had half of each so I haven't used tonnes of cheese

Hi everyone
Maria - it's lovely hearing about your little lambs :A
DNMS - those habits sound great. The trouble with me is the 'why should I' mindset considering OH is at home most of the day. His biz has been building (and he's going for a job interview today - shhhh...) and he's out 6 days out of 7 but it's still usually just a few hours each time so I don't think I should lift a finger! (Arghhh, what a ranter - I'll get back in my box...
)
Don't cry OF - you can do it!!!
Other news from me:
Teaching tonight
Updated YNAB
Put cash in the bank rather than my pocket
Packed lunch
Cheapo porridge brekkie
Not washing my hair
Mooncup magnificence!
Hung a load of washing on the airer - we don't have a line or airer outside yet
Getting tram to work - 35 min brisk walk all in for free exercise :A
Working hard - still hoping for that bonus!
Taking a book to the book swap bit at work - not bringing another back though!!
Hopefully FIL (aka 'our handiman') can fix tenant's WM - think it's just the belt that has slipped off... :T

Morning Campers!!
Up, breakfasted, bathed, hairwashed & the headache has gone!! Haven't made a list for today but am well up for some money saving so will pop back later with what I achieve. Have got plenty of time to progress a few things today as I don't need to go anywhere except popping out to the village hall later to vote.
Have a good day all,
f x2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!0 -
Morning all,
I'm going to make a concious effort to try and post on here most mornings to keep my motivation going. Hope you don't mind me joining the party.
My DFW things for today;
- Prepared breakfast and lunch at home (with extra snacks)
- Check YNAB and bank match
- Write a shopping list and visit my local Aldi (just opened last week, its huge!).
- Pay my last bill on my TV (one of the reasons I'm in debt!!!)
Have a lovely day everyone.0 -
Morning all :hello: thanks for starting us off maria I'm on the train so will keep it short. Got out house in super quick time but had some anxiety before I left. Need to work on that one before holiday else it's going to be tough. Anyway short list as will be a long day at work but:
Moved £1.51 from £co to cc
Check banking, surveys and fpl
Withdrew £5 of my survey winnings just to see how it works. If ok, will draw down remaining £10
Keep using free testing product
Make list of all things build related now builder has been :j
Meals tonight from stores. Lunch provided by workplace I'm going to.
Think that's about all, will check back later. PF.

Good morning!
Thanks for the start Maria. Hope the wee lamb perks up.
DNMS love those habits. I should try to implement them myself! I often crash out early in the evening and then hubs doesn't think to do the kitchen. Maybe I should make it a habit before I crash out and then maybe he'll start joining in. He's generally pretty good around the house as husbands go
OF Glad you slept better last night. You can do it today. Take a deep breath and know that you're fab. Then once you've tackled the shipping, see if there's a MSE treat you can treat yourself to.
LaE I'm also a mooncup fan
Ziggy Hope you have a good day. Thanks for the reminder about FPL
Foxgloves Glad to hear your headache has gone
SpekySquarehead Welcome! I love this thread for keeping me motivated. I'm so rubbish with my diary!! But I manage to post here most days. Seeing what everyone else is doing helps me to focus and also get loads more ideas
PF Hope your anxiety goes soon. How exciting for your build
Today, I am wfh so saving fuel.
All meals from stores/meal plan.
Got some dishwasher tabs on product test so using those at the moment
Potty training the boy is successful so we're also down to one overnight nappy per day and not too much extra laundry from his 'misses'
Speaking of laundry, am on load 2 this morning all to go out on the line today
Need to reconcile YNAB
Hope you all enjoy the sunny day today! xNew total: £24,006
I will do this.0 -
