Many low skilled jobs (retail assistants, waiters etc) WILL be automated, it's just a matter of time. People with no skills who are unable or unwilling to learn new skills (not everybody is capable to be an engineer or whatever) will be left on the scrapheap.
"Middle class" professional jobs are next at some point in the future to be automated/outsourced abroad where labour is cheaper. It's happening already.0 -

I do agree about retail jobs (I far prefer self-service tills), and you can already see places like McDs becoming more automated, but I don't believe that when people go out to high-end restaurants, with Michelin star chefs, that they want to be served by a machine, when they've just spent £100 on a bottle of red wine.
I do agree with you about traditional middle-class jobs. Who needs data-inputters when two computers talk to each other with a press of a button. I think the last time I used a bank branch was in 2010.0
