The person getting child benefit could claim child support from one or both parents. You should inform CSA or whoever is dealing with your case that child benefit is no longer being paid to the other parent because the child is living with someone else who is claiming child benefit for the child. They will check and if your information is correct they will close the case.0

Justontime, thanks. Re,they will close the case.... So if that was the case the new "main carer" could open up a new claim,or work out a private one between you ?0

Yes, that's right. Your best option would probably be a private agreement, but if you do that get it all down in writing and signed by both of you and put in the agreement that the main carer must notify you if the child leaves their care. You don't want a situation where you are paying one person but the child has moved on to someone else or back to the other parent. If you don't want a private agreement I believe you can open a child maintenance case yourself but I don't have any experience of that because when my husbands case changed over we moved to a private agreement (it makes both sides more cooperative).0
