Every lender has their own panel of Solicitors that they find acceptable.

The easiest thing to do is just phone your Solicitor and ask if they're on X lender's panel.

Good luck Maff39, it will be 5 weeks on Friday since we submitted application, hopefully yours is quicker. It was the mortgage advisor who arranged our lawyers for us so I would have thought he would have known which lawyers were on the panel etc but it's too late to worry about that now. It was also only mentioned to us that there was a problem with the lawyers about a week and a half ago.

As far as I'm aware the valuation is part of the home report in Scotland so I would be inclined to say that's all ok as it hasn't been mentioned to us. We're first time buyers and have no clue about the process as you can probably guess lol

    David White,
What is the difference between high street lender and building society? We are applying now through Leeds and also awaiting for the answer couple of weeks now....

The lines are blurred between Banks and Building Socs these days so I wouldn't have thought there'd be much difference.

All lenders run at their own pace regardless of status.
