If your tax code wasn't updated by your employer/pension provider before the end of 2015/16 tax year you won't get the rebate through PAYE.0

So what happens next? all the sites i have seen says that a rebate will be applied for the whole year. Therefore who puts the£212.00 in my pocket?

The rebate for this year will be applied throughout the whole year, you were just a little late for it to be applied last year.
HMRC will most likely pick it up later in the year but if you can't wait then you should discuss getting a rebate for last year with HMRC.0 -
Any repayment for 2015/16 will be paid to you by HMRC when they reconcile your pay/tax deducted and code number.
This will be dealt in due course, as you will now be one of many to be dealt with, hence the recorded message.
Your new code for 2016/17 should be applied by your pension payer on a monthly basis meaning you pay £212/12 less tax each month.0 -
