bankruptcy and foreign bank account

Hi, I am due to be bankrupt at some point in the not too distant future-

I have a bank account in Spain, I used to spend a lot of time there as family lived there, I go a bit and its quite useful to have, although there is seldom much in it-what is likely to happen to this with a UK bankruptcy, will it be frozen?, there are a couple of direct debits that I'll need to manage

thanks in advance

The OR won't be able to demand it be shut/frozen. They rarely demand that of UK accounts, anyway.

How a Spanish bank may react is hard to say.

Technically OR may have a legal claim against any balance that isn't there to meet your reasonable domestic needs in the UK., but there are practical problems with claiming that.

thanks-probably a stupid question but how would the spanish bank know? -actually i've often wondered what the mechanism is for banks in general being notified?

The OR will notify the banks for all accounts held by a bankrupt once a bankruptcy order is made. Even overseas banks check the London Gazette and Insolvency Registers for UK bankruptcies. In any case it is easy for the OR to find out about a bankrupt's bank accounts so there is no point attempting to hide information.
