Thanks Goldie - I'll give them a call and see what they say (these things can get incredible complicated very quickly!)

Thought I'd update this thread in case there is anyone else out there in a similar situation.

So I called around 12 main lenders and none of them were willing to entertain my father being on the mortgage after the age of 80 even though he won't be financially required (limiting me to an unrealistic 7 year term) .

I then tried calling some of the banks who consider cases on a case by case basis with no upper age limit though generally have a higher interest rate (like MetroBank etc). Again same answer from all of them.

As a final shot I tried calling Barclays up who to my surprise agreed that as long as I can afford the mortgage by myself my Dad's age will not be considered.

So, although I'm only at the beginning of the process and it may still all fall over it would appear Barclays are more flexible around this age limit than other banks.

Not sure if it makes a difference though I'm having 4 people on the mortgage and they consider the details of the highest 2 earners (the others are treated as silent parties).

Hope this helps someone else at some point.

Yes, Woolwich all day long for this, have done a few, the parents are named as they have gifted the equity, and the kids income is used, so Woolwich are not really interested in the parents age or income..
