Oyster cards & disability

Me & OH have had visitor Oyster cards for a long time that we use when we visit London. My OH now has a Disabled persons railcard. I've heard that you can link the railcard to the Oyster card.how does this work as the railcard gives him 1/3 off fares and also me as his career but we each have to have a separate Oyster card. Also, how do we go about it?

Your OH will need a 'proper' Oyster card (the blue ones), not a visitor card. These are £5, which is refundable when the card is returned and can be purchased from the machine at any London Underground station.
The 1/3 discount is available by getting the railcard 'loaded' onto the Oyster card. Now underground ticket offices have closed, your OH simply needs to approach a member of staff in the ticket hall (there will always be someone around). They will log into the ticket machine in staff mode and set the discount for you. The discount is then automatically loaded onto the card and discounted fares calculated until the railcard expires.
For the accompanying person, it is a little more complex. The discount cannot be applied to Oyster cards (as you may not always be travelling with the disabled railcard holder, so it is not suitable to load this onto the card permanently) or single tickets. Instead, you buy can a railcard discounted paper day travelcard from the ticket machine. This will be valid for the accompanying person.
If you are visiting London for day-trips by train, it may work out cheaper to buy either:
1. an 'outboundary' travelcard - a day's unlimited London transport plus a return to/from London
2. a single fare add-on - a return to/from London plus a return journey on the underground/DLR
Which can both be bought from the National Rail station where you start your journey.0 -

It took me ten seconds on google to find this:
You try it. Put TfL disabled railcard into google.0 -

I had already done this but it doesn't explain explain how to apply the discount to MY Oyster card. Gliders information was really helpful.:smileyhea A SMILE COSTS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING0 -

Could that be because it can't be done?
I guess you didn't see this on that page:If you're using pay as you go, you can also buy an off-peak Day Travelcard at 1/3 off the adult rate for one companion travelling with you for the whole of your journey.0
