Are house prices falling?

I am buying a small property in Coventry and am almost at the exchanging contracts stage BUT I keep hearing,seeing & reading that prices are beginning to fall. The estate agent that is dealing with the sale is telling me that prices are stable but another agent that I rang to check with says prices have fallen a bit! I don't want to buy now only to find I could have paid substantially less in a couple of weeks! Anyone care to comment please?

Price changes vary from region to region. If it is a long term investment (5 years +) why worry?

If you pull out now won't you will lose the money you have already spent. If you threaten to pull out if the price is not reduced the seller may call your bluff and not sell to you.

Buying a house (or anything else ) is always a bit of a gamble against price changes.

Kingshir, posting the same question in different threads does not mean you will get, more/faster replies.

What can happen is that people repeat replies as they are not aware you have asked the same question elsewhere.

This is not really fair to the people spending there time to reply to you.
