    Did anything happen to your credit profile after submitting the application... missed payment, applied for further credit etc?

    Nothing what so ever

    Only change was a new account which i opend with halifax 10 days prior to applying was reported to credit agencies

    They knew about that as they can see that on their internal system

    Any lender can withdraw any offer made until the day the actual advance is made.

    They don't usually do so, unless some adverse information comes to light about you after the offer is made, be that something you didn't disclose at application or a change in circumstances that you would not have been aware of at time of application.

    But withdrawal of offers were very frequent during the last financial crash ... which left a lot of people, many of whom had already exchanged contracts in a very sticky situation indeed.
