A claims co should not be doing this and they are lying, if you used them any money refunded would go to the OR you then owe the claims co their cut.
Any PPI refund pre bankruptcy goes to the OR even if discharged.

If the CMC actually told you that then you should complain about them to the regulator as that is potentially fraudulent activity on their part.
A bankrupt has no right to any redress for PPI paid prior to bankruptcy. You can complain but the redress would be paid to the OR and distributed to your creditors. In the mean time, you would be hit for a bill of 39% of what was paid out. A CMC is required to tell you this and they fact they didnt and were actively trying to sign you up is potentially fraudulent.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). People subject to bankruptcy can still complain about PPI, however depending on when the PPI was paid, and the status of your bankruptcy, the redress is likely to go to your Official Receiver.
If you use a CMC to handle your complaint you are likely to end up having to pay them their fee despite your redress going to the Official Receiver, hence you'll be out of pocket.0
